MUSIC LESSON POLICY
Saskatoon Conservatory of Music
Music Lesson Policy


Please read Policy carefully. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Oxana Ossiptchouk, Director, at (306) 880-6962, or at saskatoonconservatory@gmail.com

It is expected that all students and their families will adhere to the Music Lesson Policy with regard to lessons, recitals, workshops, practicing, etc.

Terms and Conditions:
  • All lessons are payable in advance.

  • A non-refundable registration fee of $10.00 (maximum $15.00 per family) will apply to all registrations.
  • A $20.00 administration fee will apply to NSF cheques
  • Instruction Terms: Term 1 - September through January, Term 2 - February through June. Questions concerning payment of fees should be addressed to the Director, Oxana Ossiptchouk.
  • Private instruction at Saskatoon Conservatory of Music includes group performance classes, technique classes, ensemble, fiddle, workshops, master classes and concerts. Please consult current studio calendar for details of schedule.
  • Missed lessons due to extra-curricular activities, illness, or family vacation, will not be refunded or made up.
  • Lessons cancelled by the Saskatoon Conservatory of Music will be made up.
  • Missed Group Lessons, for any reason, will not be made up or credited.
  • The only lessons that will be made up are lessons cancelled by the studio. Teachers are not obligated to make up private instruction missed by the student (see above). Missed group lessons of any kind will not be made up or credited.

Withdrawal Policy

Refunds will not be processed after the first week of program commencement. If Saskatoon Conservatory of Music is notified of student withdrawal within the first week of the program, the tuition amount, less a $20.00 administration fee, will be refunded to the participant. Non-attendance does not constitute notice of withdrawal. Registration receipt must be returned to the Conservatory Director, Oxana Ossiptchouk.

36 Private Lessons are offered in 30-minute segments, once per week from September through June
Cost: $864.00

36 Private Lessons are offered in 45-minute segments, once per week from September through June
Cost: $1296.00

Cost: $1728.00

3. Group Lesson Tuition:
Two terms of 15 Group Lessons will be offered in either Piano or Violin. They are offered 30 minutes segments, once per week.
Cost:
Term 1 - September through January - $200.00
Term 2 - February through June - $200.00

Special price for 35 instrument private lessons, 30-minute segments, plus 35 Solfeggio group lessons, 30- minute segments

4. "Do-Re-Mi" - "Do-Re-Mi" is designed to offer children an introduction to solfeggio with elements of music theory. This class targets children 5 -7 years of age.
15 Group Lessons will be offered in 30-minute segments, once per week.
Cost:
Term 1 - September through December - $195.00
Term 2 - January through June - $195.00

5. "Music Garden" - Music for children ages 3 to 5. A specially designed class to expose children to the world of movement and music.
15 Group Lessons will be offered each term in 30-minute segments, once per week.
Cost:
Term 1 - September through December - $195.00
Term 2 - February through June - $195.00

Registration Fees may be paid in full by cheque to Saskatoon Conservatory of Music
Private instruction lesson times should follow the following guidelines based on levels:

    1. Please arrive 5 minutes early for lessons, and be ready when it is your time to start.
    2. All music materials and instruments must accompany the student to lessons.
    3. Parents are welcome and encouraged to observe all private lessons. Group classes are for students only unless otherwise specified.
    4. Students are encouraged to participate in Music Festivals and Examinations when their teacher feels they are ready.
    5. Students may perform in any performance or recital planned by Saskatoon Conservatory of Music with prior notification of teacher.
    6. Informal Studio Recitals are open to any students wishing to perform. Sign up sheets can be found at the office. Younger students are encouraged to attend recitals as audience.
    Learning to play a musical instrument is a skill. To develop this skill, regular practice is required. Students should have regular uninterrupted practice on a daily basis. . Lessons can only be enjoyed if continuous progress is made, this requires practice and concentration. Practice should be relative to the level of playing and the length of the weekly lesson

1. NO FOOD OR DRINK in any of the classrooms. You may have food in the waiting room area, but please clean up after yourself. All garbage must go in garbage containers.
2. Please respect other students by keeping hallway and waiting room noise to a minimum.
3. Students of Saskatoon Conservatory of Music are expected to respect their environment and act responsibly while attending classes and visiting Yamaha Piano Center or formerly Sion Middle School. Any student found causing damage or mischief to any property of the school or Yamaha Piano Center or formerly Sion Middle School will be expelled. Parents are responsible for their children while attending lessons.
4. Parents are expected to pick up students after lessons in a timely manner. Students should be made aware of pick up location. Saskatoon Conservatory of Music is not responsible for students after lesson hours.
5. Saskatoon Conservatory of Music is a NUT & PEANUT free environment. Please avoid bringing any nut products into the studio. Due to many environmental allergies, avoid wearing perfume or cologne when attending lessons.
6. An updated calendar is available at the beginning of each term. This calendar will outline all events including workshops, recitals, festivals, and schedule changes, etc. Please be sure to transfer these dates and times to your family calendar.
7. Saskatoon Conservatory of Music will issue a monthly update in the form of a flyer. Please watch for these updates of special and upcoming events at www. saskatoonconservatory.ca If you would like to receive information about upcoming events via email - please be sure we have your current email address.
